Shootings Kill 6 People, Wound 16 Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings have left six people dead and 16 wounded since Friday, police said.

• At 2:35 a.m. Saturday, a 37-year-old man was shot dead in Near West Side.

• At 2:09 a.m., a man was shot to death and a woman was wounded in Gage Park.

• At 8:10 p.m. Friday, a 19-year-old man was shot in his head and killed in Englewood. A 21-year-old man was wounded in the attack.

• At 5:35 p.m., a 21-year-old man walking outside in Humboldt Park was gunned down.

• At 5:25 p.m., Carl Jackson, 56, was gunned down in Auburn Gresham.

• At 1:45 p.m., Jeremiah Curtis, 25, was shot to death in Fuller Park. A 39-year-old man was also wounded during the shooting.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, a 23-year-old man was shot in Hermosa, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 2100 block of North Tripp Avenue when he heard gunshots.

The man was hit in his left bicep, upper back and left armpit, Estrada said. Someone took him to Community First Hospital and he was transferred to Illinois Masonic, where he was in "serious but stable" condition, Estrada said.

• At 5:12 a.m., a man was wounded during a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

• At 2:35 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham while standing outside.

• At 2:24 a.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Englewood.

• At 2 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was walking down the street in the 5500 block of West Lake Street when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his leg and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in good condition, police said.

• At 1:32 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in South Shore, police said. The man was walking down the street in the 2900 block of East 79th Street when a car drove up and someone inside fired shots.

The man was hit in his side and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition, police said.

• At 12:45 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot while trying to break up a fight between two women in West Englewood.

• At 12:37 a.m., a 47-year-old man was shot in Little Village.

• At 11:11 p.m. Friday, an 18-year-old man was shot in Englewood.

• At 9:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot while walking with a group of people in Morgan Park.

• At 9:15 p.m., a man and woman were shot in Roseland, police said. The two were arguing in the 100 block of West 93rd Street when a man on a scooter rode by and fired shots.

The man was hit in his hip and the woman was hit in her shoulder, police said.

No further information was immediately available.

• At 4:20 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in Washington Park, Estrada said. The boy was on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East 58th Street when a silver-colored sedan drove alongside him. Two men got out, walked up to the boy and fired shots.

The boy was hit in his head and back and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
