CHICAGO — A shooting in Humboldt Park left a 21-year-old man dead on Friday, police said.

At 5:35 p.m., the man was walking on the sidewalk in the 2600 block of West Haddon Avenue when a dark SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was hit in his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, Estrada said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said, and officers think the shooting was gang-related.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Joaquin Gonzalez, of the 7700 block of South Peoria Avenue.

No one was in custody.
