Dan Ryan Shooting Sparked By Gang Feud; 1 Man Wounded, Police Say

By Kelly Bauer | September 24, 2016 1:41pm

CHICAGO — A shooting that left one man wounded on the Dan Ryan Expressway was sparked by gang signs, police said.

At 5:12 a.m., a person was driving on a ramp going from the Dan Ryan Expressway onto Interstate 55 when another car pulled up, said Sgt. Jason Bradley, an Illinois State Police spokesman.

A passenger in the second car flashed gang signs disrespectful to the Latin Kings to the driver of the first car, a documented Latin Kings member, police said. The passenger then fired shots at the first car three times, hitting a passenger in his face.

The driver of the first car drove the passenger to an area hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," Bradley said.
