Englewood, Auburn Gresham Shootings Kill 2 People, Wound 5, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings in Englewood and Auburn Gresham left two men dead and five wounded since Friday night, police said.

• At 2:35 a.m. Saturday, a 28-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham, police said. The man was standing on a corner in the 7700 block of South Paulina Street when someone in a black Chevy Impala fired five to seven shots and drove off.

The man was hit in his stomach and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

• At 2:24 a.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said. The man was in the 7200 block of South Aberdeen Street when he was shot in his torso.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

• At 12:45 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in West Englewood, police said. The man tried to break up a fight between two women in the 7100 block of South Hoyne when one of the women took out a gun and fired shots.

The man was hit in his right leg and took himself to Holy Cross Hospital, police said.

• At 11:11 p.m. Friday, an 18-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said. The man was on the street in the 5500 block of South Shields Avenue when someone in a white Nissan sedan fired shots.

The man was hit in his left leg and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital. His condition was not available, but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 8:10 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot to death and a 21-year-old man wounded in Englewood.

• At 5:25 p.m., Carl Jackson, 56, was gunned down in Auburn Gresham.

No one was in custody.
