5 Dead, 19 Wounded Since Saturday Afternoon, Police Say

CHICAGO — Five people were killed and at least 19 others were wounded in shootings since Saturday afternoon, according to police.

Three people were shot on Chicago interstates, including two on the Eisenhower Expy at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and an 18-year-old man was shot on the Bishop Ford Expy overnight Sunday.

In fatal shootings, two men were killed in separate Austin shootings since 2 a.m. Sunday, police said.

A 31-year-old man was killed on the Near West Side early Sunday. A 19-year-old man was killed and a 20-year-old wounded in an Ashburn attack just past midnight Sunday, according to police.

The day's first homicide came at 1 p.m. in a West Garfield Park attack where a 27-year-old man was killed, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Two men were shot in Little Village at 4:28 a.m., police said.

• A 19-year-old man was wounded in Little Village at 3:34 a.m., police said.

• A 29-year-old man was shot in Back of the Yards at 1:23 a.m., police said. 

He was in the 5200 block of South Sangamon Street when he got into an argument with someone who then shot at his car, but he was only grazed by the bullet, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition.

• A 20-year-old man was shot in Grand Boulevard at 12:56 a.m. in the 4700 block of South Michigan Avenue, police said.

He was shot in the left shoulder and the back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• A 25-year-old man was wounded in a North Lawndale attack at 12:35 a.m. Sunday in the 4300 block of West Roosevelt Road, police said.

He was shot twice in his leg and once in his groin and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• A 36-year-old man was wounded in a Greater Grand Crossing shooting at 11:25 p.m. Saturday in the 7900 block of South Maryland Avenue, police said.

He was shot in the ankle, arm and thigh and managed to get himself to Jackson Park Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• A 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were shot in Pilsen at 10:52 p.m. Saturday, police said.

• A 34-year-old man was wounded in a South Chicago shooting at 10:44 p.m. Saturday in the 8600 block of South Essex Avenue, police said.

He was shot in the head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He is a documented gang member, according to police.

• A 29-year-old man was wounded in a Morgan Park shooting at 10:30 p.m. in the 11300 block of South Carpenter Street, police said.

He was shot twice in his shoulder and once in his left armpit and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

• A 17-year-old was shot in Little Village at 5 p.m. Saturday, police said.

• A 20-year-old woman was shot in Greater Grand Crossing at 4:31 p.m. Saturday in the 7100 block of South Wabash Avenue, police said.

She was struck in the neck and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

• A 25-year-old man was shot in Pullman early Saturday afternoon.

• A 26-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham at 12:39 p.m. Saturday.
