Martell Smith, of the 300 block of West 104th Street, was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., the morgue said.

Another shooting in Englewood left two others hurt, for a total of eight shot in two hours, police said.

Nija Richardson, 23, was fatally stabbed around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, police said.  

Kimon Wheeler was fatally shot in his back Wednesday night, officials said.  

Martarese Gentry's life revolved around basketball, his family said.

Lawrence M. Cox, 29, was shot in the side of his stomach around 10 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

A 58-year-old man is in custody, but charges have not been filed, police said.  

Ross, 35, found shot multiple times in his chest and head, police said.

The 26-year-old was shot in his neck and head around 3:50 p.m., police said.
