CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was fatally shot while sitting in a parked car on the Far South Side on Thursday morning.

The man, who police at first said was 20 years old, was parked in the 13200 block of South Greenwood Avenue in Riverdale about 11:10 a.m. when a grey SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking him in his abdomen, buttocks and knee, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The victim was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Masonic Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim was Moses Van Pelt, of suburban Chicago Heights. His time of death was 7:30 p.m.

No one was in custody.
