2 Killed, 20 Wounded In Citywide Shootings Since Saturday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two men were killed and another 20 people were wounded in shootings around the city between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, police said.

A 28-year-old man died after being shot in Calumet Heights on the Far South Side at 4:29 a.m. Sunday.

Around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, a 22-year-old man was shot to death in Englewood.

Three separate shootings left four people wounded in Little Village between late Saturday and early Sunday.

In other non-fatal shooting:

• Most recently, at 7:05 a.m., a 34-year-old man was walking in the 300 block of South Laramie Avenue in Austin when someone pulled up in an SUV and shot at him before driving away, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was considered "stable" with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, Lemmon said.

• At 5:10 a.m., a 23-year-old man was standing in the 5200 block of South Homan Avenue in Gage Park when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his lower right leg, Lemmon said. 

A friend drove the man to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Lemmon said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 4:24 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in both ankles in Logan Square.

• At 3:40 a.m., an 18-year-old man was in a car in the 4800 block of South Laflin Street in Back of the Yards when two men shot at him from the sidewalk, according to a police incident report.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound in his right shoulder, police said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

• At 2:39 a.m., a 34-year-old man was shot while driving in West Town.

• At 12:08 a.m., a 31-year-old man was standing in the 5400 block of South Damen Avenue in Back of the Yards when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was considered "stable" with a gunshot wound in his right ankle, police said.

• At 11:03 p.m. Saturday night, a 32-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 6000 block of South Eberhart Avenue in Woodlawn when someone shot him in his abdomen and thigh, police said.

The man drove to University of Chicago Medical Center and he was transferred to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 10:55 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was walking through an alley in the 11800 block of South Union Avenue in West Pullman when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

The boy was brought to Roseland Hospital, where he was considered "stable" with gunshot wounds in his feet, police said.

• At 10 p.m., a 17-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 8000 block of South Kingston Avenue in South Chicago when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his right arm, police said.

The teen brought himself to South Shore Hospital, where he was considered "stable," police said.

• At 9:59 p.m., a 36-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 3800 block of West 13th Street in North Lawndale when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his right heel, police said.

The man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was considered "stable," police said.

• At 8 p.m., a 22-year-old man was standing in the 600 block of South Lotus Avenue in Austin when two men walked up and tried to take his car at gunpoint, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

They then shot the man in his left thigh, Lemmon said.

The man went to Loretto Hospital and he was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was considered "stable," Lemmon said.

• At 7:35 p.m., a man was shot in his head on Michigan Avenue outside the Art Institute of Chicago near Millennium Park.

• At 7 p.m., a 49-year-old man was walking with a woman in the 200 block of East 95th Street in Roseland when a man walked up, pulled out a gun and demanded their belongings, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 49-year-old threw a bag at the robber, who then shot him in his neck, Alfaro said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was "stable," police said.

• At 6:10 a.m., a 27-year-old man drove himself to a hospital after being shot in his head in Avondale.

• At 5:15 p.m., a 17-year-old was standing in an alley in the 5100 block of South Ada Street in Back of the Yards when someone shot at him from a black SUV, Alfaro said.

The teen went to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his left hand, Alfaro said.

Police said the teen is a documented gang member.

• At 10:07 a.m. Saturday morning, officers found a 58-year-old man unconscious in an alley in the 9400 block of South Perry Avenue in Roseland, Alfaro said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, police said.
