Shootings Kill 5 People, Wound 18 Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Five people were killed and 18 wounded in shootings between Friday and Saturday, police said.

At 5:20 a.m. Saturday, a 32-year-old man was shot in his head and killed in West Englewood.

At 3:15 a.m., a man was shot and killed in Washington Heights.

At 2:50 a.m., a 35-year-old man was shot to death in Austin.

At 6:45 p.m. Friday, two men were shot in Logan Square. One of them was killed and the other was wounded.

At 11:35 a.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in Bridgeport.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 3:55 a.m. Saturday, a 34-year-old woman was shot in West Lawn, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The woman was driving in the 6400 block of South Keeler Avenue when someone in a car driving behind her shot at the woman.

The woman was hit in her shoulder and left hand and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. Her condition was not released but she was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

• At 3 a.m., a 14-year-old boy was shot while standing in an alley in Englewood, Lemmon said.

• At 2:55 a.m., police found a 31-year-old man shot and wounded in West Pullman, Lemmon said.

• At 2:05 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Garfield Park, Lemmon said. The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 500 block of North Springfield Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was shot in his right leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital. His condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 1:30 a.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in South Austin, Lemmon said. The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 0-100 block of North Mason Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was shot in his lower back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. The man's condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 12:15 a.m., a man and woman were shot while standing outside in West Humboldt Park, Lemmon said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 12:05 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot while sitting on a porch in West Englewood, Lemmon said.

• At 11:40 p.m. Friday, a 49-year-old man was shot in Garfield Park, Lemmon said. The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 4600 block of West Erie Street when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man's chest was grazed by a bullet and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. His condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

• At 11 p.m., a 20-year-old woman was shot while walking on the sidewalk in Englewood, Lemmon said.

• At 10:05 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot while standing on the street in Ravenswood, Lemmon said.

• At 9:50 p.m., two men were shot while arguing with another man in Hegewisch, Lemmon said

• At 9:40 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot while standing on the sidewalk in West Pullman, Lemmon said.

• Also at 9:40 p.m., two people were shot while driving on the Stevenson Expressway near King Drive, according to the Chicago Tribune. The State Police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

• At 6:40 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in Ashburn, Lemmon said. The boy was walking down the sidewalk in the 7700 block of South Trumbull Avenue when a car drove up and someone inside fired shots at the boy.

The boy was hit in his lower left leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. He was in good condition, Lemmon said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
