CHICAGO — A shooting in Washington Heights left a man dead early Saturday, police said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 38-year-old Darnell Hardeman, of the 9600 block of South Halsted Street.
At 3:15 a.m., Hardeman was on the sidewalk in the 900 block of West 96th Street when two men fired shots at him, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
Hardeman was shot in his head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one was in custody, police said.
