CHICAGO — A shooting in Logan Square left one man dead and another wounded on Friday night, police said.

At 6:45 p.m., the men, who were 21 and 20 years old, were in the 2900 block of West Armitage Avenue when they heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The 20-year-old man was shot in his body and was pronounced dead at the scene, Lemmon said.

The man was identified as Daniel Alcantana, of the 900 block of North Harding, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Alcantana was pronounced dead at 6:59 p.m. An autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound in his chest in a homicide.

The 21-year-old man was shot in his right leg and was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. His condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

The men were documented gang members, police said.
