Englewood Shootings Kill William Palmer, Wound 3 Others, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings in Englewood left one person dead and three wounded between Friday and Saturday, police said.

At 5:20 a.m. Saturday, a 32-year-old man was sitting in a parked car in the 6300 block of South Honore Street when a man walked up and fired shots at him, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was shot in his head and was pronounced dead at the scene, Lemmon said.

The man was identified as William Palmer, of the 6300 block of South Honore Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Palmer was pronounced dead at 5:58 a.m.

The man was a documented gang member and convicted felon, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 3 a.m., a 14-year-old boy was standing in an alley in the 700 block of West Marquette Road when he heard shots and felt pain, Lemmon said.

The boy was shot in his right ear and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital. His condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

• At 12:05 a.m., a 21-year-old man was sitting on a porch in the 2000 block of West 71st Street with a group of people when someone in a gray sedan fired shots at them, Lemmon said.

The man was hit in his left hip and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. His condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

• At 11 p.m. Friday, a 20-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk in the 1100 block of West 72nd Street when she heard shots and felt pain, Lemmon said.

The woman was shot in her left arm and took herself to St. Bernard Hospital. Her condition was not released but she was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

No one was in custody in the shootings.
