A 21-year-old man was found lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound in his head, police said.

Police blamed simmering tensions that boiled over in retaliatory shootings throughout Monday.

He was shot to death in Englewood Monday evening, police said.

Two men died after being shot in Ogden Park in West Englewood Monday evening, police said.

Enrique Morales, 22,  was found dead with a gunshot wound or a stab wound in his chest, police said.

The incident took place by 52nd and Sangamon Streets, police said. 

Those shot included an off-duty officer, a 63-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, police said.

Juan Pita-Rosas, 32, was killed and another man, 22, was seriously hurt in a shooting early Sunday.

The city has had more shooting victims in just a little more than eight months than in all of 2015.

Governor rejects idea of sending troops into city neighborhoods.

Among the wounded were a 10-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, police said.

A drive-by shooting left 20-year-old Armani Fierro dead and an 18-year-old man wounded, police said.

Those wounded include a man shot near Buckingham Fountain after an argument, police said.

The long Labor Day weekend could mean another surge of violence for Chicago.
