Archer Heights Shooting Kills Juan Pita-Rosas, 32, Wounds Another: Police

ARCHER HEIGHTS — A 32-year-old man was killed and another man, 22, was seriously hurt in a shooting on the Southwest Side early Sunday morning, police said.

At 12:10 a.m., the men were standing in an alley off the 4800 block of South Kildare Avenue when they heard gunshots and felt pain, according to a police incident report.

The 32-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in critical condition after being shot in his head, police said. He was later pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Juan Pita-Rosas, of the 4700 block of South Springfield Avenue.

The 22-year-old brought himself to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition with gunshot wounds in his chest and arm, police said.

No one is in custody, police said.
