13-Year-Old Dead, 24 Others Wounded in Weekend Violence Citywide

CHICAGO — A 13-year-old boy was killed and 24 others were wounded in shootings over the weekend, including two 15-year-olds shot Sunday night on the South Side.

In the most recent shooting, a 15-year-old boy was shot in South Shore around 8:45 p.m. Sunday. The teen was shot in both legs after two men got out of a white car and opened fire in the 2200 block of East 70th Street. He was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in stable condition, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

About 45 minutes earlier, another 15-year-old boy was also shot while standing on a porch in the 7600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue. Somebody walked up to the boy around 8 p.m. and opened fire, striking him in his buttocks and upper leg. He was taken to Comer in stable condition, Sedevic said.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday, two men were shot on the Northwest side, and five men were shot on the South and West sides. A man was also shot outside an Englewood party Sunday and a man was shot in his mouth during a robbery Saturday night.

There were 14 people shot from Friday night into Saturday including a 13-year-old boy fatally shot and a toddler shot on the Southwest side.
