By Alex Parker | July 26, 2014 12:58pm

CHICAGO — Police on Saturday are investigating a robbery in Englewood that left a man with a gunshot wound to his mouth.

At 9:55 a.m., in the 6000 block of South Aberdeen Street, a 48-year-old man was working to rehab a home when someone entered the building brandishing a gun, and announced a robbery, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect shot the victim through the mouth, Estrada said.

The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Estrada said.

No one is in custody, and Area South detectives are investigating.
