Shootings Kill 3 People, Wound 10 Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Three people have been killed and 10 wounded in shootings since Friday, police said.

• At 1:40 a.m., Army veteran Abner Garcia was killed in a West Elsdon attack.

• At 11:35 p.m., a shooting in Logan Square killed a man and wounded a woman.

• At 10:15 p.m., Johnathan Stewart, 17, was shot to death in Englewood.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 5 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Edgewater, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

• At 3:22 a.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in Garfield Park, police said. The man was standing on the porch of a home in the 4700 block of West Gladys Avenue when someone walked up, fired shots and ran away.

The man was hit in his abdomen and leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.

• At 2:06 a.m., a 23-year-old man was wounded by a shooting in Logan Square, police said. The man was driving in the 3400 block of West Fullerton Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man's head had been grazed by a bullet. He took himself to Norwegian American Hospital and was then transferred to Stroger Hospital. His condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 11:46 p.m., a 33-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said. The man was standing on the rear porch of a home in the 1200 block of South Avers Avenue when he was shot.

The man was hit twice in his abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.

• At 9 p.m., two 20-year-old men were shot in Little Village.

• At 1:09 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in Austin.

• At 12:51 p.m., two men were shot in Belmont Cragin.

No one was in custody in these shootings unless otherwise noted.
