Vincent Winkfield, 28, Dies 4 Days After Being Shot In Austin

CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man was wounded in an Austin shooting Friday afternoon, according to police.

The man was in the 400 block of North Lavergne Avenue at 1:09 p.m. Friday when shots rang out, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was shot in the body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in unknown condition, Tannehill said.

The man was pronounced dead at 6:19 a.m. Monday morning, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was identified as Vincent Winkfield, of the 1100 block of North Monticello Avenue.

Further details of the shooting were not immediately available.
