6 Killed, 18 Wounded in Shootings Since Friday Morning: Police

CHICAGO — Six people were killed and 18 more were wounded by gun violence since Friday morning, police said.

In the most recent homicide, police found a man dead in his car with gunshot wounds in Englewood Saturday morning.

Two separate shootings on the same block within five minutes of each other left one man dead, another wounded and another arrested in North Lawndale early Saturday morning.

Three men were found dead in their home in Mayfair Friday evening, after what police believe was a domestic murder-suicide.

A 22-year-old man is dead after a West Ridge shooting Friday afternoon.

In nonfatal shootings: A man is in serious condition after being shot in his chest in Humboldt Park Saturday morning, police said. Five people were injured, one critically, in a shooting in Garfield Park Friday evening.

• Most recently, a 25-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were shot at around 5 a.m. Saturday morning in North Lawndale. The two were sitting in a car in the 1100 block of South Central Park Avenue when someone walked up and shot at them, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. 

They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where the man is in serious condition and the woman is in stable condition after being shot in her leg, Estrada said.

• Around 2:25 a.m. Saturday morning, a 29-year-old man brought himself to the University of Chicago Medical Center after being shot in the leg, police said.

The man is in stable condition after being shot on the 200 block of West Garfield Boulevard in Fuller Park, according to Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

• At about 2:15 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was treated for a graze wound on her left hand after a shooting in Woodlawn, Pacheco said.

The woman was sitting in the driver's seat of a car on the 400 block of East 64th Avenue when a man walked up and started talking to a man in the passenger's seat about gang affiliation, Pacheco said. When the woman drove off, Pacheco said, the man outside the car fired shots.

• About an hour earlier, a 34-year-old man was shot in his left foot in Englewood, Pacheco said.

The man was standing on the 7400 block of South Sangamon Avenue when someone walked up and fired shots, Pacheco said. The man was brought to Saint Bernard Hospital, Pacheco said, where he's now in stable condition.

• Around 11:52 p.m. Friday night, a 33-year-old man was shot in his leg in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Pacheco said. The man was taken to Stroger hospital, where he's now in good condition, after being shot on the 5400 block of South Carpenter Street.

• About a half hour earlier, a 24-year-old man was shot in Marquette Park, police said.

The man was leaning against a car on the 2700 block of West 65th Street when a car rolled up and someone inside fired shots, Pacheco said. He was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he's now in stable condition after being treated for a gunshot wound in his leg and a graze wound in his back.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At about 10:30 p.m. Friday, an 18-year-old man was shot in his ankle in East Garfield Park, police said.

The man was sitting inside a van on the 3300 block of West Walnut Street when someone walked up and fired at it, Pacheco said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Pacheco said, where he's now in good condition.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 9:20 p.m., a 36-year-old man was shot in his leg in Back of the Yards, police said.

The man was standing on the 5200 block of South Lowe Avenue when a man walked up and fired shots before running away, Pacheco said. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital, Pacheco said, and his condition was unknown to police.

• Earlier that evening, at about 6:20 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in his buttocks in Garfield Park, police said.

The man was standing on the 2800 block of West Jackson Boulevard, Estrada said, when several men walked up to him. When the 26-year-old turned to leave, Estrada said, one of the men pulled out a gun and fired shots in his direction.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he's now in stable condition.

Police said the man is a documented gang member, and they believe the shooting to be gang-related.

• Around 11:15 a.m. Friday morning, a 19-year-old man suffered a graze wound in his lower right leg after a shooting in North Lawndale, police said.

The man refused medical attention and was uncooperative with police after being shot on the 1600 block of South Ridgeway Avenue, Estrada said.
