MAYFAIR — Police suspect a 38-year-old man killed his father and brother before committing suicide at a home they shared in Mayfair Friday, officials said.

At about 5:35 p.m. Friday evening, police checked on the house on the 4600 block of North Kostner Avenue after hearing reports of gunshots, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

After forcing their way into the home, police found three men dead, Estrada said.

According Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, Jesus Cervantes, 72, was killed with an "incised wound of the neck." Joel Cervantes, 29, was killed by multiple gunshot wounds. Both deaths were ruled homicides.

Roberto Cervantes, 38, died of a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide. Police said Saturday they suspect the incident was a domestic murder-suicide.

Police also found a gun inside, Estrada said.

A Sun-Times report identified the men as a father and his two sons.
