
WEST GARFIELD PARK — A single shooting in West Garfield Park left five men wounded, one critically, Friday evening, according to police.
The five men were on the street on the 4400 block of West Maypole Avenue when a man approached them and fired shots, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman. The shooter then got into a "compact SUV" and fled the scene.
A 21-year-old man was shot in his back and chest and in critical condition, and a 23-year-old man was shot in his left hand and in good condition, he said. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
A 19-year-old man was shot in his right hand, and a 22-year-old man was shot in the right elbow. Both were in good condition and taken to Stroger Hospital, Zala said.
Another 19-year-old man got a graze wound to his leg and was treated on the scene, Zala said.
Police said the victims were documented gang members.
