
WEST RIDGE — A 22-year-old man is dead after being shot in West Ridge Friday afternoon, police say.
The man was on the 2000 block of West Arthur Avenue when he was shot at around 1:40 p.m. Friday, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.
He was struck in the chest and taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead, Zala said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner later identified the man as Vallan Francis, of the same block.
