The girl is getting a new toy to make up for one stolen earlier in August.
The thieves have been holding people up at gunpoint or going into unattended cars, police said.
Police are asking for help finding the car used in a Sunday morning shooting in Austin.
A body found on the tracks near Fullerton forced the stoppage Tuesday morning.
Most recently, a 17-year-old was shot and wounded while standing outside in Chicago Lawn.
The shooting happened in the 4000 block of South Western Avenue.
The incident happened in the 800 block of North Ridgeway Avenue.
The sergeant will be placed on administrative duties while the shooting is investigated.
