Reporter/Producer @theVoiceofJosh Contact

Josh McGhee is a general assignment reporter at DNAinfo.com Chicago.

Josh is a graduate of Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. He comes to DNAinfo.com after serving as an intern at the Chicago Sun-Times and as a weekend news reporter and sports reporter at KHQA7 in Downstate Quincy.

Josh grew up in Tinley Park and attended Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox. The coaches wanted him to play football and wrestle, but he opted for basketball. It worked out as he got a scholarship to play basketball at Culver-Stockton. The college is known for having the longest losing streak in college football — and for the basketball team making a run in 2013 NAIA National Basketball Tournament. But that was after Josh left the team.

It was at Culver-Stockton that he discovered his passion for journalism. While serving as Editor in Chief of the Megaphone, the college newspaper, Josh won an award for in-depth reporting. He also won the Emily Helsabeck Award for Oral Interpretation and the Mahan Prizes in Creative Writing-Journalism Awards. Josh was also active at KCSW, the student-run radio station where he broadcast basketball games during the 2013 regular season and the national tournament run.

Fun Fact: Josh played chess as a youngster and claims to have beaten a grandmaster in a simulcast match. The grandmaster insisted Josh cheated.
