Weekend Shootings Kill 9 People, Wound 33, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings killed nine people and wounded 33 over the weekend.

Of those victims, six have been killed and 11 wounded since Sunday morning.

• At 5:32 a.m. Monday, three people were shot to death in East Side.

• At 12:10 a.m., a 26-year-old man was gunned down in Chicago Lawn.

• At 11:19 a.m. Sunday, two men were shot dead in Austin.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 2:30 a.m. Monday, a 49-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 800 block of West 75th Street when someone in a gray car fired shots.

The man was hit in his right leg and he was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 9:20 p.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man and 25-year-old man were shot in Garfield Park, police said. The two were standing in the street in the 3900 block of West Jackson Boulevard when someone in a passing car fired shots.

The 20-year-old was hit in his back and the 25-year-old was hit in his buttocks. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

• At 7:35 p.m., a 37-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was in the 1200 block of North Mayfield Avenue when he was shot in his back.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 6:04 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in Morgan Park, police said. The man was in the 1400 block of West 109th Street when a dark-colored, two-door car pulled up and several people inside the car fired shots.

The man was hit in his side and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

• At 5:54 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in Roseland, police said. The man was in the 200 block of West 113th Street when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was shot and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 4:17 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot when a basketball game turned into an argument in Woodlawn.

• At 3:32 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in Humboldt Park.

• At 1:49 p.m., a 28-year-old man and 26-year-old man were shot in Back of the Yards, police said. The two were on a front porch in the 5300 block of South Hoyne Avenue when two people — one walking, the other on a bike — came up to them and fired shots.

The 28-year-old was hit in his ankle and taken to Holy Cross Hospital and the 26-year-old was hit in his left arm and taken to St. Bernard Hospital. Their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

The attackers ran away afterward, police said.

• At 8 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in Portage Park.

No one was in custody in these shootings unless otherwise stated.

Shootings killed three people and wounded 14 between Saturday and Sunday, and eight people were wounded in shootings Friday to Saturday.
