LOGAN SQUARE — Logan Square's trendy juice bar, Owen + Alchemy, is closing.

In an announcement on Facebook, owner Anne Owen said her team is closing the flagship shop, 2355 N. Milwaukee Ave., indefinitely "in order to focus on wholesale R&D and the evolution of healthy, sustainable + conscious beverages."

"It’s our hope that in the future, a more broad audience will have access to the planty concoctions that we’ve been mixing up for the past two years," she wrote.

Owen + Alchemy is known for selling cold-pressed juices, nut milks, kombucha, snacks, nut butters and herbal vials. The shop also offered cleanses ($65 per day for a six-juice supply), monthly memberships and subscriptions. Its line of designer juices sold for $10-$12 per 16-ounce bottle.

When it opened in 2014, the Logan Square shop was Owen + Alchemy's first location.

Since then, Owen and her partners opened a pop-up shop in Lincoln Park, but it may not be there for long. The 1920s-era building housing the juice bar might be coming down to make way for a mixed-use development.

Owen also announced plans to open locations in the West Loop and West Town. That's in addition to another, more permanent location within the Lawrence House, 1020 W. Lawrence Ave., thanks to the financial backing of FLATS Chicago.

It's unclear what the closure means for the other locations. Owen didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

The food blog Eater was first to notice the announcement.
