WICKER PARK — Breakfast chain Yolk has opened its seventh location in Chicago and 13th in the nation.
Located at 1819 W. Division St. in Wicker Park, Yolk opened on Saturday — and word got around fast.
"Sunday, this place was packed. A lot of families were here. They were glad to see us," Gianluca Pesce, a Yolk spokesman, said Tuesday.
The cheerful eatery, with orange or yolk-colored walls and royal blue seats, anchors a new apartment building that replaced the demolished Miller Lumber.
In January, Yolk is planning to open at 1767 N. Milwaukee Ave. on the Bucktown and Wicker Park border, next to the the 606 trail. Pesce said that Yolk will be a recipe-testing kitchen, with fewer tables and a full coffee bar.
Among the highlights on Yolk's expansive menu: five-egg omelets, three-egg scrambles, crepes, French toast, a smoked salmon platter and heavier lunch fare, such as a Buffalo chicken wrap.
Pesce said the new Yolk has brought about 30 jobs to the neighborhood, and so far the feedback from customers has been positive.
"People comment on the service, consistency of the dishes and big portions," he said.
For those who do not want to eat in at the newest Yolk, which offers 164 seats at booth or tables, the restaurant also offers delivery service 9 a.m. -2:30 p.m. daily via a "NoWait" app.
The app delivery boundaries include Wicker Park, Bucktown, Logan Square, West Town and Ukrainian Village, Pesce said.
Hours are 6 a.m.- 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. -3 p.m Saturday and Sunday. 773-382-3447.
