Shootings Kill 9, Wound 66 Over Thanksgiving Holiday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Nine people were killed and 66 others were wounded in shootings since Wednesday, according to police.

Shootings killed three and wounded 17 others since Sunday alone.

Included among the dead is a man police killed after he shot at police and shot a 24-year-old pregnant woman, Chicago Police said. Police fatally shot three men since Wednesday, the department said.

Two people were killed within about 10 minutes of each other Sunday: An 18-year-old man was killed in Auburn Gresham at 2 p.m. and a 37-year-old man was killed in West Garfield Park at 1:52 p.m., police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 3:10 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Greater Grand Crossing, police said.

He was walking on the sidewalk in the 7200 block of South King Drive when a group of two men and two women walked up and started to rob him. The man gave them his belongings but was also shot in his foot and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 12:40 a.m., two women were shot during a West Ridge robbery attempt, police said.

• At 11:06 p.m., a 44-year-old woman was shot in Back of the Yards, police said.

She was standing on a front porch in the 800 block of West 51st Place when she was shot in her right leg, police said. The woman was taken to Strgoer Hospital, where her condition was not released but police considered her to be stable.

• At 10:57 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Greater Grand Crossing, police said. 

The man was standing in an alley in the 7200 block of South University Avenue when he was shot in his left leg and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 10:20 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Greater Grand Crossing, police said.

The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 6500 block of South King Drive when someone in a green car began firing, police said. He was struck in his left leg and was taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 9:45 p.m., two robbers were shot by a store employee in West Ridge, police said. 

• At 7:34 p.m., a 33-year-old man was shot in Bronzeville, police said.

The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 500 block of East 38th Street when someone in a dark-colored car began firing, police said. He was shot in his right wrist and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 6 p.m., a 38-year-old woman was hurt by flying glass in a River West shooting, police said.

• At 5:10 p.m., a 50-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham, police said.

The man was walking with a 21-year-old man when two other men walked up and began firing, police said. He was struck in his abdomen and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 4:45 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in Uptown, police said.

• At 2:55 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said.

He was in the 1800 block of South Pulaski Road when he got into a fight with several people, one of whom shot him in the right foot, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

• At 2 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Humboldt Park, police said.

The man was walking in the 3800 block of West Division Street when a man emerged from an alley and shot him in his left knee, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

• At 1:30 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in West Englewood, police said.

The man was walking in an alley in the 200 block of West 69th Street when a van pulled in the alley and someone inside began firing, police said. He was struck in his right arm and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

Shootings killed two people and wounded 15 others since Saturday, police said. Three were killed and 13 were wounded Friday, one person was killed and 10 others wounded Thursday, and 11 were shot Wednesday.
