8 Dead, 44 Wounded in Weekend Gun Violence, Police Say

CHICAGO — Eight people were killed and 44 others were wounded in shootings throughout Chicago since Friday, police said.

Since Sunday, one person was killed and 10 others were wounded, including a man shot by police after allegedly robbing a gas station in Austin on Sunday night, police said.

Sunday's lone fatal shooting came at 6 p.m. in Marquette Park, when an 18-year-old man was gunned down, police said.

Shootings killed one man and wounded 17 others on Saturday. Between Friday and Saturday, six were killed and 17 were wounded in gun violence, police said.

In non-fatal shootings since Sunday:

• A 24-year-old man was wounded in a Fuller Park shooting early Monday, police said.

The man was walking at 12:10 a.m. in the 3900 block of South Wells Street when two men walked up to him and began firing, police said. He was truck in the left hand, foot and buttocks and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not released but police said he was stable. He is a documented gang member, police said.

•  20-year-old man was wounded in Belmont Cragin on Sunday night, police said.

At 9:20 p.m., the man was walking on the sidewalk in the 3600 block of North Monitor Avenue when someone in a black Jeep fired shots, police said. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition after being shot in his chest and arm, police said.

• A 20-year-old man was wounded in an Irving Park shooting Sunday night, police said.

• A 25-year-old man was shot in Uptown at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

• A 33-year-old man was shot in West Pullman at around 8 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The man was in the 11900 block of South Marshfield Avenue when he was shot in the face, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, police said.

• A 24-year-old man was wounded in a Grand Boulevard shooting on Sunday night, police said.

The man was in the 4600 block of South Martin Luther King Dr. at 6:25 p.m. when someone in a passing green car began firing, police said. He was struck in his hip and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• A 21-year-old woman was shot in Auburn Gresham, police said.

The woman was walking in the 8000 block of South Bishop Street at 5:07 p.m. when she was shot in both legs and her right arm, police said. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where her condition was not released but she was considered to be stable.

• A 23-year-old man was shot in Roseland in an incident that temporarily halted Red Line service, police said.

• Between noon and 2 p.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man was shot in Roseland, police said.

A woman arrived at her house in the 9400 block of South Forest Avenue and found blood, police said. Officers then found her son, a 20-year-old man, who had been shot in the shoulder. The man has cognitive disabilities, police said.
