Shootings Kill 1, Wound 17 Since Saturday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings have left 1 dead and 17 people wounded since Saturday morning, police said.

• At 7:00 a.m. Saturday, Vincent Zarco, 26, was shot dead in Little Village, police said.

Officers saw a car driving away from the scene and pulled it over, police said. Someone threw a gun out of the window of the car and officers found it, police said. Two people from inside the car were taken in for questioning.

Zarco was a documented gang member, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 4:45 a.m. Sunday, a 19-year-old man was shot in Gresham, police said. He was in the 8300 block of South Ada Street when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his thigh and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 4:22 a.m., a 41-year-old woman was shot in Gage Park, police said. She was driving in a vehicle traveling westbound in the 3100 block of West 54th Street when she heard shots and felt pain.

The woman was hit in her left jaw and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition, police said.

• At 4:19 a.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said. He was standing on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of South Kostner Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his left abdomen and left arm, and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

• At 2:47 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in Little Village. He was walking on the sidewalk in the 4200 block of South Cicero Avenue when a person in a vehicle fired shots.

The man was hit in his right ankle and was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, police said.

• At 2:10 a.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, police said.

• At 1:45 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, police said.

• Also at 1:45 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, police said.

• At 10:40 p.m. Saturday, a 25-year-old man was shot in Little Italy, police said. The man was standing on the street in the 1000 block of West 14th Street when he heard shots and felt pain.

He was hit in his right side and was transported to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

• At 9:51 p.m., a 37-year-old man was shot in Gage Park, police said. He was sitting in his home in the 5100 block of South Trumbull Avenue when a bullet entered through a window and grazed his abdomen.

The man refused medical attention. It does not appear that the man was the intended target, police said.

• At 9:50 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in West Garfield Park, police said.

• At 8:53 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Uptown, police said.

• At 7:40 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Tri-Taylor, police said. He was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 1000 block of South Oakley Avenue, when a dark-colored sedan drove by and a person inside fired shots.

The man was hit in his chest and his back and took himself to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The man was a documented gang member.

• At 4:39 p.m. in a 24-year-old man was shot in Roseland, police said. He was standing outside in the 300 block of East 95th Street when a red sedan drove by and a person inside fired shots.

The man suffered a grazed left wrist but refused treatment, police said.

• At 4:30 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Gresham, police said. He was leaning into a parked vehicle and talking to a friend at the intersection of West 81st Street and South Peoria Street, when a silver sedan drove by and a person inside the car fired shots.

The man was hit in his back and stomach and took himself to Little Company of Mary Hospital. He was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 3:39 p.m., a 40-year-old man was shot in Garfield Park, police said.

• At 1:18 p.m., a 46-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. He was inside a home in the 4800 block of West Congress Parkway, when he suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

He was hit in his thumb and was taken to Loretto Hospital in good condition, police said.

• At 12:59 p.m. Saturday, a 19-year-old man was shot in Oakland, police said.

No one was in custody.
