CHICAGO — A man robbing an Austin gas station was shot by police Sunday night, according to the Chicago Police Department.
At around 5:52 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at a gas station in the 1000 block of North Cicero Avenue, police said in a news release.
Officers arriving at the scene saw the robbery in progress, police said.
The officers were then confronted by the armed robber, and at least one officer then shot at the robber, police said.
The man was struck in his leg and was taken to an area hospital, police said. No officers were injured in the incident and a gun was recovered on the scene, police said.
