CHICAGO — One person has died and 24 others were wounded in shootings since Saturday afternoon, bringing the holiday weekend's shootings tally to 40 shot, 4 fatally, according to police.

The shootings came despite an effort by police to saturate high-crime areas as well as parks and beaches over the Memorial Day weekend.

A 27-year-old man was shot dead in Fuller Park Saturday afternoon, police said. He was the fourth to die from injuries this weekend, including a 15-year-old girl, according to police.

• Most recently, a 17-year-old was wounded in a Roseland shooting at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, police said.

He was in the 300 block of West 108th Place when he was shot in the left arm. He transported himself to Roseland Hospital, where his condition was not released.

• A 27-year-old man was wounded in a Austin shooting at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, police said.

He was in the 5000 block of West West End Avenue when he was shot in the right leg, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him stable.

• A 26-year-old woman was shot in West Garfield Park at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, police said.

She was in the 3900 block of West Wilcox Street when two men walked up, opened fire and she was struck in the back. She took herself to Loretto Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

• A 23-year-old man was wounded in a Auburn Gresham shooting at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, police said.

He was in a stopped car when a man walked out of a different car and shot him in the thigh, police said. He was driven to St. Bernard Hospital, where police considered him to be stable.

• A 28-year-old man was wounded in a Near North Side shooting at 2 a.m. Sunday.

• A 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were shot in Humboldt Park at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, police said. The were walking in the 700 block of North Kedzie Avenue when they heard shots. 

The 21-year-old was grazed in the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition was not released. The other man was shot in his left hand and was also taken to Stroger, police said.

• Two women were shot while driving on the Dan Ryan Expressway at 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

• A 37-year-old man was shot in Austin at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, police said. 

He was standing in an alley in the 4700 block of West Erie Street when shots rang out and he was hit in the chest, right leg and arm, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

• A 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old man were shot in West Garfield Park at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, police said. 

They were standing in the 700 block of South Independence Boulevard when shots rang out, police said. The 29-year-old was shot in his left ankle and the 28-year-old was shot in his left thigh. Both men were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions were not released but they were considered "stable," police said.

• A 17-year-old was shot in North Lawndale at 10:50 p.m. Saturday, police said.

He was in the 1500 block of South Ridgeway Avenue when shots rang out, police said. He was shot in his lower left leg and was dropped off at Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released but police said he was stable.

• Three people, including a 48-year-old woman, were wounded in an Englewood shooting at 10 p.m. Saturday.

• A 23-year-old man was shot in Austin at 9 p.m. Saturday, police said.

He was on the sidewalk in the 5100 block of West Chicago Avenue when someone in a light-colored car opened fire, police said. He was struck in his right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released but police said he was stable.

• Two 32-year-old men were shot in the Back of the Yards at 8:40 p.m. Friday, police said.

They were in a car in the 1600 block of West 47th Street when a car pulled up behind them and someone inside opened fire, police said. Both were shot in the leg and were brought to Stroger Hospital, where police considered them to be "stable."

• A woman in her 20s was shot in West Garfield Park at 9 p.m. Saturday, police said.

She was found in the driver's seat of a car in the 3900 block of West Lexington Street with a gunshot wound to her neck, police said. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

• A 19-year-old man was shot in Avalon Park at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, police said.

He was in the 8300 block of South Dante Avenue when a man in a passing car opened fire, police said. He was struck in his buttocks and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• A 24-year-old man was wounded in a Washington Park shooting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Two men were shot in Garfield Park at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.
