Man Shot Dead In Fuller Park Identified: Authorities

CHICAGO — A shooting in Fuller Park left a 27-year-old man dead on Saturday, police said.

At 5:18 p.m., the man was in the 200 block of West Root Street when he was shot in his head, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has been identified as Garvin Whitmore, of the 5800 block of West 63rd Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A gun was found at the scene of the shooting, Tannehill said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
