3 Killed, 26 Wounded In Shootings Since Monday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Three men died and 26 people were wounded in shootings between Monday morning and Tuesday morning, almost all on the South or West sides, police said. 

A 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were killed in Englewood during that time, and four other people were wounded in shootings in the neighborhood.

• A shooting in West Garfield Park left a 28-year-old man dead and another man, 21, wounded Monday night.

• Less than an hour later, five men were hurt, one critically, when someone opened fire on them in East Garfield Park.

Shootings in Austin left six people wounded, one critically, Monday and early Tuesday.

• A 41-year-old man was shot in his neck while sitting in a car in Hermosa on the Northwest Side early Tuesday morning.

• A 33-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet during a drive-by shooting in Canaryville Monday night.

In other shootings:

• Around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was standing on a front porch in the 4300 block of West Wilcox Street in West Garfield Park when he heard gunshots and felt pain, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound in his left arm, Pacheco said.

• At 10:10 p.m. Monday night, a 17-year-old was shot in his right leg in the 3100 block of West Monroe Street in East Garfield Park, Pacheco said.

The teen was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Pacheco said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• Around 9:20 p.m., a 19-year-old man was riding a bicycle through the intersection of 50th Street and Western Avenue in Gage Park when someone shot at him from a white Chrysler driving north on Western, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was "stable" with gunshot wounds in his arm and neck, Pacheco said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Just after 5 p.m. Monday evening, a 33-year-old woman was standing on the sidewalk in the 3800 block of South Rhodes Avenue in Bronzeville when she heard gunshots and felt pain in her right hand, police said.

The woman was taken to Mercy Hospital, where she was listed in good condition, police said.

• Around 1:45 p.m., an 18-year-old man was standing on the corner of 19th Street and St. Louis Avenue in North Lawndale when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was "stable" after being shot in his shoulder, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• About 40 minutes earlier, a 20-year-old man was walking in the 6700 block of South Artesian Avenue in Chicago Lawn when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his left leg, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 11:45 a.m. Monday morning, a 26-year-old man was shot in his lower back in the 400 block of East 62nd Street in Woodlawn, police said.

The man brought himself to the University of Chicago Medical Center, and he was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• Around 9 a.m., a 28-year-old man was driving west on Huron Street near Homan Avenue in East Garfield Park when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his foot, police said.

The man brought himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
