CHICAGO — Two people were killed and another 18 were shot across Chicago over the weekend, police said.
At least five people have been shot since Sunday afternoon including two teens shot near Micek Park in Back of the Yards.
Around 5:50 p.m., the teens were standing near a basketball court in the park when a man got out of a gray car and fired shots at them, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
A 16-year-old boy was struck in his left elbow and a 15-year-old boy was struck in his right buttocks. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, Sedevic said.
Most recently, a 27-year-old man was shot inside an apartment during a party in Auburn Gresham just before midnight. Around 11:55 p.m., the man was in the 1200 block of West 82nd Street when he was shot in his hip, Sedevic said.
He was taken to Christ Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition, Sedevic said.
Two people were also shot Sunday night in Near West Side. Sunday afternoon, three people were injured in separate shootings including a 50-year-old man in Humboldt Park.
From Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning, eight people were wounded in shootings on the South and West sides. Also, a 23-year-old man was fatally shot in Greater Grand Crossing and a 22-year-old man was fatally shot in Englewood.
From Friday night into Saturday, two people were shot on the South Side.
