CHICAGO — Two people were killed, and at least eight others were wounded in shootings on the South and West Sides since Saturday afternoon, police said.

In Greater Grand Crossing, one man was killed and another was seriously wounded after two men walked up and began firing shots, police said.

In West Englewood, a 21-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when he was shot and killed, police said.

Two people, including a 17-year-old girl, were injured in separate shootings in the Near West Side, police said. 

• In Austin at 4:35 a.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 00-50 block of North Long Avenue when a man walked up and fired shots in his direction, striking him in his right knee, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

An acquaintance drove the man to West Suburban Hospital and his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

• At 5:52 p.m. Saturday in East Garfield Park, a 38-year-old man was seated in a vehicle in the 3100 block of West Madison Street when a gunman approached and opened fire, striking the man in his left foot and ankle, Estrada said.

The man, who is a documented gang member, drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, police said.

• In Englewood at 3:30 p.m. a 32-year-old man was walking on the street in the 7000 block of South Sangamon Street, when an unknown man walked up and fired shots, Estrada said.

The man was shot in his right leg and taken to Saint Bernard Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

• In Greater Grand Crossing at 2:20 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was in the 7800 block of West Champlain Avenue when she heard shots and felt pain. The woman suffered a graze wound to her head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where her condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

• At 11:50 a.m. in Riverdale, a 31-year-old man was shot in his leg and back in the 13200 block of South Langley Avenue. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition had stabilized, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman said.
