CHICAGO — One man is dead, and another man was seriously wounded after being shot in Greater Grand Crossing Saturday night, police said.

At 11:53 p.m., two men, both 23 years old, were standing in the 7400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when other men walked up and began shooting, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

One of the men was shot multiple times in his torso, head and neck and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

He was identified as Theo Hike, of the 7300 block of South Champlain Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The other man was shot in his back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.
