Three Dead, 11 Wounded in Weekend Violence

CHICAGO — Three people were killed and 11 people wounded in shootings since Saturday morning, violence that stretched from the East Side to the West Side of the city.

The most recent fatal shooting left a 17-year-old boy dead after being shot in Little Village around 6 a.m. Sunday. Police suspect a gang connection.

Also, a man was fatally shot and three others were wounded after a shooting inside a lounge in Auburn Gresham around 2:35 a.m. Sunday and in New City a 40-year-old man was killed just before 3 a.m. after he left his porch and approached a car that stopped in front of his home.

Another three people were shot — one fatally — at a backyard party near Lafolette Park in Austin.

In non-fatal shootings:

Two people were shot in Pilsen ten minutes before 4 a.m. by someone driving a black pickup truck.

• Around 3 a.m., a 56-year-old man identified by police as an unlicensed cab driver was shot in West Englewood when he resisted a robbery.

• Two people were shot by an unknown man while they stood outside with a group of people in the 10000 block of South State Street in Roseland around 11:40 p.m. Saturday. A 32-year-old man was grazed in his buttocks and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition. A 32-year-old woman was also treated on the scene after being grazed in her arm. No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said.

• Around 7:50 p.m. Saturday, a 17-year-old boy was grazed in his leg while in the 1200 block of West 112th Place on the Far South Side. The boy was walking when he noticed a man walking towards him, who opened fire. The shooter fled on foot and no one is in custody. The boy was treated on the scene and is in good condition, Pacheco said.

• Around 2:24 p.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old man was grazed in his lower back while in a car in the 10400 block of South Avenue N in East Side after someone from the street fired at the car. He was treated on the scene and is in good condition, Pacheco said.

• Around 2:20 p.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man walked into Mt. Sinai in stable condition after being shot in the stomach. He told officers he was in the 3300 block of West Madison Street in East Garfield Park when he was shot. No more details were available, Pacheco said.
