CHICAGO — An "unlicensed cab driver" was shot during a robbery early Sunday in West Englewood, police said.

The 56-year-old man was in the 6300 block of South Hoyne Avenue around 3 a.m., when two people walked up his car and attempted to rob him. When the driver refused, the men shot him in his thigh and fled the scene with no money. The man flagged down officers and told them he was shot, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
