Weekend Shootings Kill 11 People, Wound 31 Others

CHICAGO — Shootings over the weekend left 11 people dead and 31 wounded.

Of those victims, two people were killed and six wounded in shootings since Sunday.

• At 8:20 p.m. Sunday, a 42-year-old woman was shot and killed in Chicago Lawn. Two other people were wounded in the shootings.

• At 4:32 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot to death in Little Village.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 1:21 a.m. Monday, an 18-year-old woman was shot in Little Village.

• At 11:22 p.m. Sunday, a 47-year-old man was shot in Washington Heights, police said. The man was sitting in a parked car in the 10100 block of South Racine Avenue when someone in a gray van fired shots.

The man was hit in the left side of his body and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

• At 2 p.m., a 30-year-old woman was shot in Brainerd, police said. The woman was a passenger in a car in the 9200 block of South Halsted Street when someone in a blue car drove up and the driver of the blue car got into an argument with someone.

The driver then fired a shot, hitting the woman in her arm, police said. She was driven to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she was in good condition and was treated and released.

• At 1:58 p.m., a 17-year-old was shot in Burnside, police said. The teen was in the 9200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when he was shot in his leg.

The teen was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, police said. During the shooting, a window was damaged and a 24-year-old man received a cut to his head.

No further information was immediately available.

• At 9:56 a.m., a 26-year-old woman was shot in Roseland, police said. The woman was in the 10100 block of South Princeton Avenue when she was shot in her lower back.

The woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

No further information was immediately available.

• At 9:52 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Roseland, police said. The man was walking to a store in the 10600 block of South Wentworth Avenue when he heard gunshots.

The man realized he'd been hit in his heel and he flagged down a person, who drove him to Roseland Community Hospital, police said. The man was then transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

No one was in custody in these shootings.

Shootings killed four people and wounded 12 others between Saturday and Sunday, and five people were killed and 13 wounded in shootings Friday to Saturday.
