CHICAGO — A shooting in Chicago Lawn left one person dead and two wounded on Sunday night.
At 8:20 p.m., the three were sitting in a parked car in the 6000 block of South Richmond Street when a man got out of a silver-colored car and fired shots at them, police said.
A 42-year-old woman was hit in her head, police said.
Catherine Barnett, of the same block where she was shot, was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed she died from a gunshot wound in her chest in a homicide.
A 37-year-old man was hit in his chest and he was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition. A bullet grazed the nose of a third victim, who refused medical treatment, police said.
The third victim, whose age and gender were not immediately available, was being uncooperative with investigators, a police source said.
No one was in custody.
