3 Killed, 24 Wounded In Shootings Since Saturday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Twenty-seven people were shot, three fatally, in different parts of the city between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, police said.

At 8:12 p.m. Saturday night, a 20-year-old man was shot to death in Logan Square.

Just after midnight, 24-year-old Jesus Valois died after being shot in his chest in North Lawndale.

At 2:49 a.m., a man was gunned down in Chicago Lawn.

At 6:50 p.m. Saturday evening, state troopers chased and shot at a car suspected of being stolen, leaving a boy wounded.

Most recently:

• At 6:45 a.m., a man in his 20s was found with a gunshot wound in his head on a porch in the 3600 block of West Lexington Street in East Garfield Park, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Lemmon said. His condition could not immediately be provided.

• At 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, a 28-year-old man was standing on the corner of Kedzie Avenue and Augusta Boulevard in Humboldt Park when someone shot at him from a passing red SUV, Lemmon said.

The man was taken to Rush Hospital and transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his left arm, Lemmon said.

• At 4:01 a.m., a 14-year-old boy was shot in his head in the 5500 block of West North Avenue in Austin, according to a police incident report.

The boy was taken to Loyola Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• Also at 4:01 a.m., two people were shot in University Village.

• At 3:13 a.m., a 37-year-old man was shot in his hand in Rogers Park.

• At 2:30 a.m., two 26-year-old men were standing in the 11600 block of South Morgan Street in West Pullman when someone pulled up in a black Ford Taurus and shot at them, police said.

Both men were taken to Roseland Hospital, where they were considered "stable" with gunshot wounds in their legs.

• At 2:19 a.m., a 25-year-old man was in a car stopped in traffic in the 4100 block of West 21st Street in North Lawndale when someone walked up and shot at him, police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 1:27 a.m., two men were shot in the 6800 block of South Bishop Street in Englewood, police said.

One man, 19, was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition after being shot multiple times, police said.

Another man, 23, was "stable" at Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound in his right leg, police said.

Police said the shooting was gang-related.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• At 12:32 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in his head in Ravenswood.

• At 11:45 p.m. Saturday night, a man shot his 27-year-old girlfriend in her arm in Rogers Park.

• At 11:32 p.m., a 47-year-old man was shot in his leg in the South Loop.

• At 10:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded in Edgewater.

• Also at 10:30 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in his back after exchanging gunfire with someone in the 2100 block of South Kildare Avenue in North Lawndale, police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said. His gun was recovered.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 10:10 p.m., an 18-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 8500 block of South Creiger Avenue in Avalon Park when someone shot at him from a black Dodge Caravan, police said.

The man was taken to Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his left foot, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 9:35 p.m., a 21-year-old man was sitting in the passenger seat of a car driving out of a gas station in the 9900 block of South Vincennes Avenue in Washington Heights when someone walked up and shot at him, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound in his back, police said.

• At 7:47 p.m., a 17-year-old was standing at the corner of 70th Street and Morgan Street in Englewood when two cars pulled up and people inside shot at him, according to Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The teen was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was "stable" with a graze wound in his upper back, police said.

• At 6:53 p.m., three teenagers were standing in the 5700 block of West Potomac Avenue in Austin when someone walked out of a nearby alley and shot at them, police said.

A 17-year-old was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound in his upper left chest, Tannehill said.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in his buttocks and abdomen and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition

Police said the boy is a documented gang member.

Another 15-year-old boy was taken to Loyola Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his lower left leg, Tannehill said.

• At 4:42 p.m., a 37-year-old man was inside a vacant building in the 5300 block of West Division Street in Austin when two men broke inside and shot at him, Tannehill said.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was in critical condition after being shot in his stomach, police said.

No one was in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
