STREETERVILLE — Nando's is continuing its American conquest with a new store in Streeterville.
The fast-growing South African chicken chain will open its sixth city restaurant Sunday at 227 E. Ontario St.
To celebrate, Nando's will donate all proceeds from its opening day toward the planned renovation of nearby Seneca Park.
"We love the idea of helping to renovate Seneca Park and the Eli M. Schulman Playground, which has become such an important community gathering place," Burton Heiss, the CEO of Nando's USA, said in a statement.

The restaurant will be Nando's sixth in Chicago since debuting last year in the West Loop. Another Nando's opened last week in the South Loop.
Based in Johannesburg, the chain is known for grilled chicken spiced with African peri-peri peppers and sides such as mashed peas. The restaurants also include a bar.
City officials unveiled a $3 million vision this spring to upgrade the park, 220 E. Chicago Ave., which first opened in 1990. Plans call for new playground equipment, wavy benches, and a 10-foot-tall plaything resembling the Old Water Tower off Michigan Avenue. The improvements were expected to be financed mostly through private fundraising.
The Streeterville Nando's will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends.
