THE LOOP — The newest Nando's Peri-Peri in Chicago will open Saturday in the Loop.

The restaurant at 22 S. Wabash Ave. is the fourth in Chicago by the South African chicken chain. A Good Stuff Eatery shares the Wabash address but occupies a different storefront, a Nando's spokesman said.

Players from the Chicago Fire soccer team will be serving customers during the Loop restaurant's opening weekend. All sales proceeds Saturday and Sunday will benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation, which works with disadvantaged youth in the area.

The Loop Nando's arrives after the chain opened a West Loop restaurant in May, a Lakeview store a month later, and another in Lincoln Park in September.

Fire players appearing will include defender Eric Gehrig, midfielders Chris Ritter, Michael Stephens and Matthew Watson, and club ambassador Gonzalo Segares. They will be at Nando's from 11:30 am to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
