Shootings Kill 1 Person, Wound 19 Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — One person has been killed and 19 wounded in shootings since Friday, police said.

• At 3 p.m. Friday, Byran Cooley, a 19-year-old man, was shot to death in Austin.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, a 29-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham.

• At 4:35 a.m., a man was shot in Fuller Park, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man was hit in his shoulder while in the 300 block of East 52nd Street and was taken to Stroger Hospital.

No further information was immediately available.

• At 4:14 a.m., two men were shot in Garfield Park, police said. The men were standing in a gangway in the 3200 block of West Maypole when they heard shots and felt pain.

A 26-year-old man was hit in his left thigh and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. A 30-year-old man was hit in his left leg. He drove himself to St. Mary's Hospital. Their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

• At 4:09 a.m., a shooting in Austin left a 19-year-old woman and 28-year-old man wounded, police said. They were standing on a sidewalk in the 5200 block of West Quincy Street when someone in a dark-colored sedan fired shots at them.

The man was hit in his legs and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The woman was hit in her left foot. She was taken to Loretto Hospital, where her condition was not available but she was listed as "stable," police said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 3:17 a.m., three people were shot in Austin.

• At 2:36 a.m., a shooting on the same block in Austin left a man wounded.

• At 1:02 a.m., a 27-year-old man was shot while driving in Englewood.

• At 10:50 p.m. Friday, a 29-year-old man was shot in Riverdale, police said. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 13300 block of South Corliss when he saw several men shooting at each other. The man tried to run away and was hit in his right knee.

The man took himself to Roseland Community Hospital and was transferred to Stroger Hospital. His condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 8 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in Englewood.

• Also at 8 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in Garfield Park, Lemmon said. The man was in the 4000 block of West Gladys Avenue when he was hit in his ankle.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in good condition, Lemmon said.

No further information was immediately available.

• At 7:52 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in Bronzeville, Lemmon said. The man was driving in a car in the 4800 block of South Langley Avenue when a car coming from his opposite direction stopped and someone got out, fired shots at the man and then drove off.

The man was hit in his head and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition, Lemmon said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 7:38 p.m., three people were shot while standing in front of a home in Englewood.

• At 12:15 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot by a masked gunman in Austin.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
