CHICAGO — A shooting in Austin left 19-year-old Byran Cooley dead on Friday afternoon, officials said.
At 3 p.m., Cooley was a passenger in a car driving in the 600 block of South Cicero Avenue when another car drove up and someone inside fired shots, hitting Cooley, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The driver took Cooley to Loretto Hospital, Lemmon said. Cooley, of the 5200 block of West Quincy, was pronounced dead at 3:22 p.m.., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.
No one was in custody in the shooting.
