Shootings On Same Block Just Hour Apart Leave 4 People Wounded

CHICAGO — Two shootings within an hour of each other and on the same Austin block left four people wounded early Saturday, police said.

At 3:17 a.m., three people were standing on a sidewalk in the 0-100 block of South Leamington when someone fired shots at them from an alley, police said.

A 20-year-old man was hit in his right shoulder and a 24-year-old man was hit in his right hip and right arm. They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

A 31-year-old man was treated at the scene for a gunshot wound in his right ankle, police said.

The 20-year-old man was a documented gang member, police said.

At 2:36 a.m., a 43-year-old man was shot by a group of men standing on the sidewalk while driving in the same block, police said. The man was hit in his left leg.

The man drove to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody in the shootings.
