Englewood Shootings Wound 5 People, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings in Englewood have left five people wounded since Friday, police said.

• Most recently, at 1:02 a.m. Saturday, a 27-year-old man was driving in the 1900 block of West 64th Street when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. The man was hit in his abdomen and right leg.

The man took himself to Little Company of Mary Hospital and was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 8 p.m. Friday, a 30-year-old man was in the 6000 block of South Halsted Street when he heard shots, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man was hit in his buttocks.

The man got on a bus. He got off the bus in the 6300 block of South Halsted Street and sought help for his gunshot wound, Lemmon said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and was in good condition.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 7:38 p.m., three people were shot while in front of a house in the 6000 block of South Carpenter Street, Lemmon said. A car drove up and someone inside the car fired shots.

A 37-year-old woman was hit in her leg and arm and she was taken to Stroger Hospital. A 25-year-old man was hit in his arm and he took himself to St. Bernard Hospital. A 21-year-old man was hit in his side and he took himself to Holy Cross Hospital.

Their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody in the shootings.
