
CHICAGO — One person was killed and at least nine others were wounded in shootings throughout the city, according to police.
The day's youngest shooting victim was a 14-year-old gang member shot in Englewood, while the oldest was a 68-year-old truck driver shot on the Dan Ryan Expy. according to police and media reports.
A 16-year-old teen was shot to death in Chicago Lawn early Thursday. Police originally thought the teen had shot himself in the head, but later determined the incident to be a homicide. A person of interest is being questioned, police said.
• Most recently, a 56-year-old man accidentally shot himself in Archer Heights early Friday, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
He was in the 4900 block of South Knox Avenue at 4:52 a.m. when his gun went off, though police could not say where he was shot. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, Pacheco said.
• A 36-year-old man was seriously wounded when a man shot him in the Near West Side early Friday, police said.
• A 23-year-old woman was shot in Austin early Friday, police said.
• A 68-year-old truck driver was shot while driving on the inbound Dan Ryan late Thursday.
• A 33-year-old man was seriously wounded in an Austin shooting Thursday night, police said.
• A 14-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man were shot in West Englewood around 9 p.m. Thursday, police said.
•A 17-year-old accidentally shot himself in Washington Heights Thursday afternoon, Pacheco said. He grazed himself in his leg and was brought to Roseland Community Hospital in good condition, she said.
• A 32-year-old man was wounded in an Austin shooting late morning Thursday, police said.
