2 Killed, 19 Wounded in Citywide Shootings Since Tuesday Morning: Police

CHICAGO — Two people were killed and another 18 were hurt in shootings between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, police said.

More people were shot between 2 p.m. and midnight Tuesday than during the entire previous weekend.

A 21-year-old woman was shot to death while sitting in a car on the Near West Side just after midnight Wednesday morning, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Earlier, Pacheco said, a 31-year-old man died after being shot while walking in Chicago Lawn.

Most recently, a 32-year-old man was shot in his arm while driving in Old Irving Park Wednesday morning, police said.

Police said they believe a 24-year-old man shot in River North was targeted Tuesday afternoon.

A 32-year-old man was shot in his back in Little Village early Wednesday morning, Pacheco said. 

Two men were shot and wounded while standing on a Humboldt Park street corner Tuesday evening, police said.

Around the same time, a 22-year-old man was shot in his foot during a robbery in Morgan Park, Pacheco said.

• Around 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, Pacheco said, a man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot in the 5100 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Gage Park.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• At 10:20 p.m., a 23-year-old man was walking in an alley in the 2800 block of West 63rd Street in Chicago Lawn when a group of men walked up and shot him multiple times in his arm, Pacheco said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Pacheco said, where he was listed in serious condition.

Police said the man is a self-identified gang member.

• At 8:35 p.m. Tuesday night, a 50-year-old man was driving in the 11500 block of South Prairie Avenue in West Pullman when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Pacheco said.

The man drove himself to Roseland Hospital, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for a gunshot wound in his back, Pacheco said.

• Around the same time, two 16-year-old boys were standing on the sidewalk in the 3000 block of West 64th Street in Chicago Lawn when they heard gunshots and felt pain, Pacheco said.

One of the boys was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, Pacheco said, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for gunshot wounds in his left leg and his right thigh.

Police said the boy is a documented gang member.

The other boy was brought to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for a gunshot wound in his right leg, Pacheco said.

• Minutes earlier, at 8:28 p.m., a 25-year-old man was walking in the 4100 block of West Washington Boulevard in West Garfield Park when he heard gunshots and realized he'd been shot in his shoulder, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, Pacheco said, where he was listed in good condition.

• Around 6:45 p.m., a 42-year-old man was sitting in a car in the 8800 block of South Wood Street in Auburn Gresham when someone pulled up in a black SUV and shot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Pacheco said, where he was in critical condition with gunshot wounds in his head, arm and shoulder.

• About an hour earlier, Pacheco said, two men were shot in the 7900 block of South Ashland Avenue in Auburn Gresham.

One man, 30, was shot in his arm, Pacheco said. The other man, 31, was shot in his hip.

The men were brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where their conditions stabilized, Pacheco said.

Police said both men are documented gang members.

• Around 4:40 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was sitting in a car in the 2700 block of West 57th Street in Gage Park when someone shot at her from the street, Pacheco said.

The woman was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Pacheco said, where she was listed in fair condition with a gunshot wound in her back.

• Around 2:30 p.m., two men were sitting in a moving car in the 5700 block of South Laflin Street in West Englewood when they heard gunshots and felt pain, Pacheco said.

One of the men, 27, was shot in his left foot, Pacheco said. The other man, 21, was shot in his right hand. 

The men drove themselves to St. Bernard Hospital, where their conditions stabilized, Pacheco said.

• Around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, Pacheco said, a 57-year-old man was shot in his face in the 8200 block of South Emerald Avenue in Auburn Gresham.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Pacheco said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.
